I have been a crypogram dict for years njoyed the chalenge of solving them, but I was always frustrated by the limitations imposed by using pencil and paper:
* Realizing I made a mitake and hving to erase
* Not fiding every instace of a letter, and upon finding one I missed, realizing that I was on the wrong track
* Dfficulty in keeping track of which letters are in play
* ounting he frequency of each letter
* The fat that some tpes of paper, especially nwsprint, don't take erasures well
